General Questions and Answers

How much can I charge for an inspection?
    On a National average inspectors charge per $125 per sample. Other ideas we have heard is to charge $200 for a consultation and then apply that towards the samples that may need to be taken.

 

Is there insurance available for mold inspections?
    Yes. ESA has affordable Mold Errors and Omissions Insurance available with a General Liability coverage.

 

Are there acceptible limits for mold like there is for radon?
    At this time there are no set mold limits by the government or EPA. However, there are industry recgonized guidelines that are used in mold inspections and assessments that this course follows.

 

I have mentioned to some realtors about mold and they were not receptive to it, are all realtors like this?
    No. Not all realtors are like that. The ones that do not want to talk about mold inspections have probably have had concerns for a potential loss of sale. If explained to the realtors that a mold inspection helps reduce their liability and when you explain the report to the client without scaring them IF a potential if there for mold, they will try it. Remember though, realtors are not the only source of busniess.

 

Is it true that it is expensive to get into performing mold inspections?
    A typical start up mold kit can cost $350 - $450 which should include your pump, air sampling media, direct sampling media, filters and carrying case. Respitators cost between $20 - $30 and lab fees range from $20 - $40 per sample.
